What I’m Trying To Say … Never Say Never

You know you’re a 90s kid when you hear “Never Say Never” and you think of Brandy, not Justin Bieber! Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge Brandy fan. Listening to her music as an adult (as opposed to a struggling 10 year old) is super surreal! How beautiful is this message though…

So I was in the 4th grade. I was at a new school and trying my hardest to be a cool kid. Anyway, I started hanging with a group of 5 girls (because in middle school, you weren’t anything without a clique). One of the girls in the clique was new too, and I’m guessing she was trying to be a kiss ass, so she bought everyone tickets to the Brandy concert. Everyone, except me. Like how the hell do you buy 4 tickets and there are 5 girls in the clique!  Moving along, that broke my heart. I mean really broke my heart. I cried to my mom about how school sucked, nobody liked me, I was ugly, I never want to go back to school, and my life was over (legit thought pattern for a 10 year old, right?). She assured me that everything was fine and that maybe that girls mom didn’t know to get 5 tickets, etc. etc.

That weekend my mom took me shopping to get a new outfit and to get my hair done. I figured she was just being nice because I seemed suicidal about not being invited to the Brandy concert. Well honey, my mommy surprised me with FRONT ROW TICKETS TO THE BRANDY CONCERT AND BACKSTAGE PASSES. Talk about coming through in the clutch. I went to the concert with my mom and we ended up seeing my “clique” up off in some side section. They even came down durning intermission to say hi or whatever… but security made them leave (haha). I lost my shit all over that concert. Hands down one of the best and most memorable concerts I’ve ever been too. And I learned that you don’t need cliques.
